My path to finding joy in what I do has been anything but ordinary. It’s a journey shaped by a past filled with rules and restrictions that once dulled my passion for liveliness and colour. Imagine spending years in a place where bright colours were off-limits, like living in a world devoid of vibrancy.

In this bland environment, I found my own way to rebel. Growing up in the ’70s and ’80s, I longed for popstar posters on my walls, but such displays of style were frowned upon. “No idols!” the cult elders would proclaim. But, they couldn’t dampen my creative spark.

I found comfort in painting my walls a bold red, dressing my bed in a burst of colours, and surrounding it with so many cushions that making the bed became a daily challenge. And when I became a mother, I persisted in creating whimsical themed rooms for my children, ensuring each detail had its place. My desire to cultivate beauty in spaces was a force they couldn’t suppress.
